One night, after waking from a dead sleep, the author heard its poetic words. It "flowed like butter," he said. Half asleep, he was immediately compelled to ascribe it to paper. He wasn't to realize its meaningful significance until the next morning when he read its virtuous verse. Everyone agrees it is a most wondrous beginning for a children's author.
