Ancient Egypt. The Nile is rising, and in the summer heat, thousands of workers toil at Pharaoh's command to raise the Great Pyramid. Meryt's father trained her in his healing arts, so when an injury threatens his life, it seems only natural for her to take his position on the team. But the Royal Vizier brings in a replacement, Nakht. Now her family faces ruin, and Meryt wants to hate him. His dark eyes and wicked smile speak to her lonely heart, but can she trust him?
