"The Playboy of the Western World" by Irish playwright John Millington Synge is a three-act play.
The play was first performed on 26th of January, in 1907, at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin.
The play is set in Michael James Flaherty's public house in County Mayo, on the west coast of Ireland, during the early 1900s.
The story revolves around a young man, Christy Mohan, who happens to be running away from his farm. He claims that he has killed his father. The locals are not as much interested in condemning his immoral and murderous deed as they are in vicariously enjoying his story.
