Webster's dictionary defines the verb influence as "to move or impel a person to some action." Influencing a friend, colleague, family member or lover could take on a number of different forms. You could influence through positive messages and behaviors that cause a person to take one path over another. Unfortunately, many people take a negative or divisive perspective and influence through manipulation or deceit to get what they want. Rather than view influence as a win-win proposition, they accept (and some embrace) a win-lose proposition.
