Cooking poor is hard to do, but many people in today's economy have to learn to adjust their food budget. This means buying more economically at the grocery store, and also trying to feed hungry people on much much much less. Also you want everyone to stay healthy.

My Name is Anna Patterson and I have been cooking all of my life. I was taught to cook by people who were a part of the people heavily influenced by their own part in the hardship which was The Great Depression.

With worldwide economic woes, it is very likely that the world could fall into similar crisis. The Great Depression was an economic problem of catastrophic proportions. It began in 1929 and by 1931 it had become a problem, in fact, a World Depression and was all over the world. When this economic decline ended is in debate, although this was seen as the early 1940's. That depression began with the fall of stock prices, and then a drop in personal income and a severe rise in unemployment. Unfortunately, in the present day, these are the same growing problems.

I personally believe in being prepared, so I thought I would share some of the ways of cooking I was taught by people who did survive The Great Depression. Because of this, I developed my own cheap cooking recipes. It was thrifty management practices in the kitchen, basically cooking cheaply, that kept families from starving to death during very hard times. So why not pass these old ways on to others. It is a reassuring thing to an entire family when they have something satisfying to eat and can say, "And we are saving money on our food budget."
