Graduate student Willis, seeking tales of the supernatural for his studies in anthropology, becomes part of the supernatural when he is changed into a vampire by a vengeful subject of his tales. Consumed by an implacable thirst for blood, Willis must adapt to the life of a vampire, or die. As he struggles to adapt, he also struggles to maintain a normal life and have a relationship with the innocent Melanie. In the background, though, lurks the Changer, ever moved by mischief and by vengeance. Only if the Changer dies can Willis hope to live the life that he desires.
