These authoritative and widely-quoted reports, commonly known as the Beige Book, are published eight times per year.

The reporting districts are: Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Richmond, Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Dallas, San Francisco

Beige Book: Each Federal Reserve Bank gathers anecdotal information on current economic conditions in its District through reports from Bank and Branch directors and interviews with key business contacts, economists, market experts, and other sources. The Beige Book summarizes this information by District and sector. An overall summary of the twelve district reports is prepared by a designated Federal Reserve Bank on a rotating basis.

Categories in the reports include consumer spending and tourism, nonfinancial services, manufacturing, real estate and construction, banking and finance, agriculture and natural resources, employment, wages, prices, retail, manufacturing and related services, software and information technology services, staffing services, commercial real estate, residential real estate, construction, and more.
