The papers in this e-book offer a unique introduction to critical management studies in health care. The papers aim to collectively challenge the forms of management thinking that see management as purely technical, as simply finding better ways of getting things done and examine the development of critical management studies in the health care arena. They show how an exclusive focus on performance has the effect of hiding phenomena like exploitation, surveillance, manipulation, discrimination and subordination and how this focus provides camouflage for the things that are regularly done in the name of and under the cover of ‘better management’.
