New public management (NPM) and its variants of entrepreneurial government have been with us for more than twenty years. This e-book explores the relationship between public management reform and its impact on systems of public administration and public officials. One of the principal foci of this collection of articles is an examination into public service identity, its changes and the implications of change. All of this is presented in the context of an examination of different models of bureaucracy, which reflect the transition from classical public administration to new public management.
