This special issue of Journal of Educational Administration (JEA) features a collection of conceptual and empirical studies that seek to re-articulate the links between educational leadership, educational organizations and the field of organizational theory. The idea for compiling such a volume emerged from meetings of the Organizational Theory Special Interest Group (SIG) at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) conferences of 2002 (Chicago) and 2003 (San Diego).
