Earlier, when her tires had touched on Blackstone Haven, the sensation of being home had filled her. She'd spent months traveling and getting items for her family. She had no idea of their relevance but her powers had guided her to each. As she'd worked to get everything she'd been sent to, all her thoughts had been focused on one thing—getting home to Blackstone Haven. More importantly, getting home to him. Grayson reinforced the power in her cloak—it made her invisible to any being and blocked out any sound she made, as well as the sensation of who or what she was—so no one in town would know she was back. She didn't want to deal with her family just yet. For now, she had something else to do. With each step, her boots sounded on the hardwood floor of the hall leading to the office that was her destination. Absently, she glanced around the area. They had done a lot and the office had a comfortable air but still maintained the feel of a business. Grayson stopped at the door and lifted her hand, pressing it against the surface before her. She reached out with her senses and felt him. She breathed out, stilling a shiver at being this close to him. Her leaving as she had, when her sister had just finished battling the demon stalking them and won at least for this time, had been hard. Doing so when she'd sensed the man who'd arrived had been damn near impossible. But she'd done it—for her family and more specifically for him. I've done my duty and I will not wait one more second for this. Grayson stepped through the door making her body displace briefly as she walked through the closed door. She took a step then stopped, staring at the man seated behind the desk. His head was bent over his work. His ice-blond braid slid forward over a shoulder and he pushed it back with blunt, strong fingers. There was a gracefulness to his motion that made Grayson's breath catch. "Look at me." She let him hear her voice. The man's head snapped up and he rose swiftly. His brow was furrowed as he looked around the empty room. Grayson's breath stalled at the sight of his sexy face—his features came together in interesting angles and ridges that made him unforgettable. His light green eyes and that ice-blond hair coupled with his distinct features made him extremely handsome, not to mention dangerous. The danger wasn't just from his effect on a woman's libido, but the vibe of being able to handle anything that he put out. Instinctively she knew he would do whatever it took to match the sensation he gave off. Oh, yes. This is what I was waiting for. She fought her need to go to him and make him hers. Patience, Grayson, all in good time. You can hold on for what you need to say first. With that, she dropped the invisibility. The man went so still it was as if he didn't even breathe. Grayson smiled. She liked his reaction. No attacking or letting anything show. Oh, honey, you can be like that in public if you choose but when you are with me, you will show me it all. She strode across the spacious room towards the desk. "Do you like my boots?" The man lowered his head and glanced at her feet then back at her. "They are—" "Fuck me boots." Grayson bit back a chuckle at his intrigued expression. "Yeah, you can take that either way. It can mean 'come and get me' or 'don't fuck with me'." She stopped and glanced at her boots then lifted her head, looking at him through her kinky curls. Grayson knew how the way the hair framed her face would make her seem—innocent and...
