The novel depicts the thing from a woman called Satchan perspective. Otani, who is husband of Satchan, representing the writer Osamu Dazai, steels money from a small restaurant called Tsubakiya, which he goes many times. Only Dazai could express the shame of the husband, the strength of the wife confronting with hard situation and subtle moves of mind between them.
