This short story was written by one of the famous desperate novelists, Osamu Dazai, early in the Showa era. The protagonists become a young boy after listening to Gyokuon-hoso, the radio broadcast about the Imperial Rescript on the Termination of the War. This story is about the young boy who tries to recover from tuberculosis cheerfully at a sanitarium for tuberculosis that is called "Kenko Dojo". This coming of age story is not so gloomy that people think this novel is rare as Dazai's novels are usually gloomy.
