There are hamlets that the Japanese government permits to discriminate those members of the hamlet. Segawa Ushimatsu is born in a one of those discriminated village. His father raises him prohibiting Ushimatsu to mention his birthplace and his social status. He gradually gets cornered after the death of Inoko Rentarou, to whom Ushimatsu liked.
