John Wayne - In The Movies examines Wayne's career from Stagecoach to his last film, The Shootist (1976). Encompassing 50 films from this 37-year-period, it highlights the Duke's most revered films, from his "Cavalry Trilogy" with Ford to the his classic collaborations with Howard Hawks and Henry Hathaway. Admittedly, some of the films are dated, racist, jingoistic and chauvinistic by contemporary standards. And a few would be downright forgettable — if not for the presence of Wayne, an American icon whose larger-than-life image is burned permanently into memory.
