The Tanbook is a compilation of the statutory and regulatory provisions governing landlord-tenant matters in New York State; there are more than a dozen different statutes and sets of regulations that have a direct impact on practice in this field. It also includes relevant local laws from New York City, Albany, and Rochester. Many of the laws or regulations are preceded by commentary highlighting the key provisions dealing with issues most frequently encountered by practitioners. The Tanbook is organized into the following parts:

•  Part I consists of two subparts, the first containing selected provisions of various statutes of statewide applicability (e.g., Real Property Law, Real Property Actions and Proceedings Law, Multiple Dwelling Law, Real Property Tax Law), and the second setting forth the Federal Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

•  Part II contains selected local laws from New York City (including the Unlawful Evictions Law and the Cooperative and Condominium Conversions Law, and portions of the Housing Maintenance Code), Albany, and Rochester.

•  Part III is comprised of the laws and regulations covering rent stabilization and rent control in New York City and in other areas elsewhere in the state.

•  Part IV sets out the State Attorney General's Regulations for the conversation of rental buildings into cooperatives.

•  Part V contains various provisions of the Court Acts and Rules governing the City Courts, District Courts, Justice Courts, and New York City Civil Court.

•  Part VI includes illustrative practice and litigation forms plus some official government agency forms.

•  Part VII contains a conversion table to the New York City Administrative Code, which sets forth the current and former sections of the Code for the relevant New York City laws set out in this work. It also includes a court and agency directory and an index.
