This 117 page report is based on data from 55 institutions including museums, libraries, colleges, historic sites and other organizations with major operations in the preservation of rare or historic books, documents, films, audio recordings, photographs, art and sculpture, buildings, machines and other mediums. Data is broken out separately for libraries, museums and other organizations as well as for college affiliated and non-affiliated organizations. The study looks closely at how these organizations run their preservation operations including detailed data on staffing, funding, budgets, grant strategy, employee training, collaborations, equipment purchasing, outsourcing, revenue accrual, marketing, use of social media and the internet, and other facets of managing preservation and restoration operations in libraries, museums, government agencies, historic sites and other organizations.
