An attractive young woman, Gloria Tilley, stumbles on a cache of diamonds hidden by her gangster boyfriend and decides to make a new life for herself with the help of Charlie Weldon, an elusive pawnbroker with criminal connections. On her quest to find Weldon and sell the stolen gems to him Gloria is unaware that hot on her trail is a hapless private detective and a hopeless police officer, neither of them fully aware of why they are chasing her. Her ex-boyfriend, seeking revenge for his mother's death and desperate to retrieve the diamonds he left in her care, is sprung from prison and joins the chase, as does his boss who is the criminal mastermind who organised the diamond robbery. Meanwhile, back at the master criminal's mansion skulduggery is afoot as his personal assistant follows her own agenda and tries to avoid joining the bodies buried in the woods. Assisted by a motley crew of oddball individuals Gloria and her pursuers follow their separate paths and end up in Cranton-on-Sea at the start of its summer festival. The events that unfold change the lives of all concerned forever.
