"The Woman in White" is a classic novel by Wilkie Collins, first published in 1859. It's a thrilling mystery that tells the story of Walter Hartright, a young artist who is hired to teach drawing to two sisters in a remote country mansion. When he encounters a ghostly figure, dressed in white, wandering the streets of London, his life takes a dramatic turn. The woman in white is revealed to be Anne Catherick, a former patient of the insane asylum, who has escaped and is on the run from the sinister Sir Percival Glyde. As Walter sets out to uncover the truth behind Anne's incarceration and the motives of Sir Percival, he becomes embroiled in a web of deceit, betrayal, and dangerous secrets.
