This collection of haiku poetry by a western poet is a wonderful contribution to the world of Japanese poetry.
Alone in a tiny house in the Japanese countryside, Lucile Bogue awoke one night to experience her first typhoon. With the house shaking and rattling, the wind howling, and the rain pouring down in torrents, she was afraid for the first time in her life. That same night, by the light of a candle, she wrote these haiku poems. The morning brought calm and a brilliant sun to greet her. Each poem is accompanied by one of the author's delicate sumi-e style illustrations with calligraphy by Keiko Hata.
