The Emerging Writers' Festival is dedicated to promoting the interests of new and up-and-coming writers. In 2013 it has, for the second year, paired with Monash University in this prestigious award for emerging literary voices. The Monash University Undergraduate Prize for Creative Writing is this year judged by bestselling author of Burial Rites Hannah Kent, Dr Melinda Harvey from Monash University and editor Julia Carlomagno from Scribe Publishing.
