Laurence Cole was a medical student in England when he had a stroke and spent three months in a coma. He survived the coma only to find he had suffered severe brain damage and could not continue his medical education. This book takes us on the journey of his life as he struggled to retrain his brain (his "left side") build a family, fight being labeled "retarded", and ultimately achieve his doctorate in biochemistry. Dr. Cole went on to become one of the foremost cancer researchers in the United States and made major scientific evolutionary discoveries. He has several awards for research, was instrumental in numerous patents being awarded to Yale University, and has authored or co-authored more than 300 articles in peer- reviewed medical journals. He currently consults on hCG and gestational trophoblastic diseases all over the world through the USA hCG Reference Service.
