Set against the backdrop of the final days of the Trojan War, the Iliad tells the story of Achilles, a model warrior and paragon of all qualities the Greeks prized most in a young hero. Retired from his commander and king, Agamemnon, Achilles is pulled back into the conflict by the death of his friend, Patroclus.
