Mr. Sankara Warrier's this book is a pioneering attempt at a comprehensive study of the Guruvayur temple from all possible angles. He has utilized all available sources, primary and secondary, in reconstructing the chequered and colorful history of the temple from its legendary origins to the present day. The separate chapter on the historic Guruvayur Satyagraha,(1931-32) which captured all-India attention, should be of special interest to students of the Socio-political history of modern India.
