When managing projects, your office should have a Unified Front. This means that someone outside looking in (like a consultant) should see the same thing from all employees: all letters sent out on the same letterhead, everyone follows the same procedures, the plant is designed to the same design standards, and everyone purchases from the preferred equipment list. In other words, there should be no personal preferences.
This is what the Plant Conditions & Standard Component List gives you: the Unified Front. If you don’t have a document like this, how will people know what you and your fellow project managers want? People who want to work with you need to know what you require; otherwise, they are wasting time and money trying to figure out what are your personal preferences.
This ebook is made up of two parts: Plant Conditions and Services, and the Standard Component List. It introduces each section with an explanation of why the section is important and how it is used, and then follows up with an example taken from an actual project. Readers are free to adapt the examples to their own specific needs, saving loads of time and money.
