Author Fay Risner CNA has written a book on understanding AD and how to cope with it for caregivers in the home and health fields. The book gives caregivers insight about why people act the way they do and how to handle different situations by Opening A Window for the person with AD. Risner's experience comes from years as a CNA taking care of people with Alzheimers and ten years helping her mother take care of her father. Risner was an AD support group facilitator for 8 years. Over the years, she has been a speaker at events for the Alzheimer's Association. She has been awarded Iowa Health Care Association's Nurse Aide Of The Year and the Alhzeimer's Association's Professional caregiver of the year.
