Love is the Bible's great theme. From the first breath of creation to the final vision of a renewed world, Scripture insists that love is not merely a feeling but a way of being—rooted in God's own heart. "God is love" (1 John 4:8) is not a slogan; it is the pulse beneath every command, promise, and story.

This book asks a simple question—What does the Bible say about love?—and follows it across the arc of Scripture. We'll explore love as covenant loyalty (hesed) in the Old Testament, as self-giving agape in the New Testament, and as a lived practice in daily life. We'll listen as the Law and Prophets call God's people to love God with all their heart and their neighbor as themselves; as the Psalms sing of steadfast love that endures forever; as Jesus embodies love that tells the truth, embraces the outcast, forgives enemies, and lays down its life.

Along the way, we'll resist easy slogans and proof texts. Instead, we'll seek context, clarity, and courage—allowing Scripture to shape our imaginations for marriage and friendship, community and justice, compassion and holiness. Love, in the Bible, is not sentimentality. It is fidelity, mercy, and cruciform strength.
