When I studied journalism, -30- was how we ended our piece, like writing "the End" when completed. In -30-, Volume 3 of my MacEwan Trilogy, the reader finds Alec has semi-retired from reporting. He writes novels and manages a pub based on pubs from his homeland Scotland and he runs his pub with two fellow scots from Glasgow. Alec is called for jury duty and can't get out of it. In his pub he meets a retired writer from Quebec and they enjoy spirited banter. Alec is in good terms with the kids from the Consortium and life for him is good albeit quiet. When one of the jurors is killed, Metropolitan Toronto Police Services contact Alec as a warning and to pick his brain for clues. CSIS and the RCMP put pressure on the Metro coppers when another juror is found dead. Things pick up when a third juror dies and with no motive or suspect police become frantic. Killing jurors undermines the entire justice system so this case needs solving, hence the pressure from the feds. But without any leads, the police are hamstrung in protecting the remaining jurors and some flee the city, including Alec.Brian Johnson, the bass player from the 70's band Ziska Road helps Alec out while the police attempt to solve the killings. Brian Johnson and his story is chronicledin my novel, Ziska Road. Things take a turn when Alec goes missing while visiting his French friend and it does not look good for Alec.
