A series of unexplained shootings has sparked outrage and fear, not only from Americans, but from their new President, Jerome Knight. Thrust into the role by a similar act of violence, Knight must soothe a mournful nation, while also facing the revelation that the man he has revered for twenty-four years has deceived him. This discovery will lead him on a journey to find others who may also have been misled.

One such man, Martin Henderson, shattered by Maddi's death from a plane crash, is also seeking answers. He is a wanted man, however, and must stay hidden. But the more he learns about the crash, the more he knows he must venture out to learn the truth. He will soon discover that his mortal enemy, Morningstar, may have played a role. Aligning with Maddi's bodyguard, the two must not only figure out what happened, but how to prove it.
