At the heart of Every Speck is the gruesome suicide of Roberts' sister, and the unintended consequence of the destruction of her whole family. Roberts and her family travel for a lifetime of healing, not to any perfect wholeness, of course, but to a reclamation of their lives as human beings who can love life and walk on.
