The Loyalists in the American Revolution is the detailed story of the formation of the Tory or Loyalist party in the American Revolution ; its persecution by the Whigs during a long and fratricidal war, and the banishment or death of over one hundred thousand of these most conservative and respectable Americans is a tragedy but rarely paralleled in the history of the world.

This book includes matters necessary for an understanding of the Revolution, but hitherto, for the most part, neglected, and in many cases inaccessible.
