J. George Milke built The House during the depression. For 50 years The House stood at 1421 Old Eastern Avenue in Baltimore County, Maryland. Over those 50 years The House experienced many changes. If The House could talk it would tell the same story that you are about to read. Through many ups and downs The House served its occupants the best way it possibly could. Then one day The House went through a transformation that caused it to be non-existent. But before that happened, The House left a legacy that no one will ever forget.

This is J.B. Ward's second book. It is a fiction based on real life experiences that took place during her childhood and into her adult years. The House was her home for 30 years and left her with many happy memories. One memory came as an unexpected surprise to all three generations who lived there and also to the town of Essex. J. George Milke, the builder of The House, was Ward's maternal grandfather. He had a plan that he kept as a secret to everyone, even his wife, Irene. Only he and The House knew of this secret. But now, both he and The House are gone.
