In a world where war has turned cities into ruins and silence into the most terrifying weapon, a brother and sister are forced to hide from strangers in the basement of their own house. For seven-year-old Nastya and her three-year-old brother Egorka, their shelter is the only reality, and a plush rabbit given by their father is their only connection to their former, peaceful life. They are waiting for their father, "the strongest," to return, to drive "them" away, and for everything to be alright again.
But hope fades with each passing day. The food supply is running out, the world above seems dead, and the ringing silence after each explosion makes their hearts stop. When Nastya is left alone, she takes on the role of a mother and protector, telling her brother stories about a garden they have never seen and a life they have never known.
This story is not about war itself, but about what happens to humanity when its value falls below the cost of a few paper bills. It is about destruction and grief, but also about memory, duty, and finding a glimmer of light even in the darkest abyss.
