Believers of the Lord, we need the oil of heaven. And God is willing to pour out over us. He is willing to anoint us with oil. In the oil, we are anointed, appointed, set apart and consecrated for His work. The greatest men of the Bible — kings, prophets, and priests — were anointed with oil. Oil means purpose. We've turned anointing into something soft, sentimental, even feminine. But when Samuel poured oil over David's head, it wasn't a spa treatment. It was a call to arms. When oil ran down the heads of Israel's chosen, it wasn't just fragrance—it was fire. We need disciples who are oiled. Disciples on fire for God, Disciples appointed for a divine task. Disciples who do not treat the oil with contempt. Disciples who are ready to defend the oil. Disciples who will keep guard over the oil no matter the cost. God is calling for sons and daughters of oil. He is calling us to be saturated by the fresh oil of the Holy Spirit—empowered to be His lamps in a dark world, sharing His Word to light the paths of others (Jew and Gentile) so they can come home to a loving and an eternal Father. May the oil pour from heaven to ignite the fire of heaven in God's people.
