At seventeen, Frankie Montgomery should be reveling in the joys of her senior year of high school, soaking in every moment of freedom and anticipation. Instead, she finds herself grappling with an earth-shattering discovery: her father, whom she believed to be dead, is not only alive but is also her new English Literature teacher. This man stands before her, lecturing about novels and poetry, completely unaware of her existence.

The shock of this revelation ignites a fiery anger towards her mother, who has kept this secret buried for so long, and stirs a whirlwind of burning questions in Frankie's heart: Is this man truly her father, or is it another one of her mother's fabrications, a desperate ploy to ensnare a man? Why has her mother spun a web of lies throughout her entire life? How could her father, if he truly is, be oblivious to her presence in the world? What has drawn him to her small hometown now? If he is indeed her father, would he even want to know her?

The weight of these questions presses heavily on her, the answers seemingly impossible to grasp. Driven by a fierce determination to uncover the truth, Frankie resolves that she will never forgive her mother for this betrayal.
