Jamie has never stayed anywhere long enough to call it home. In twelve years, she's moved from foster home to foster home, never unpacking more than the bare essentials, never letting herself hope that "this time" might be different. She doesn't remember her parents; only the quiet ache of absence; and she's learned to survive by keeping her guard up.
When she's placed with the Harpers just before Christmas, Jamie expects more of the same: a few months, polite smiles, and then the next move. But the Harpers' warm kitchen, snow-dusted porch, and the simple wooden welcome disc above the mantle feel unlike anything she's known. Still, belonging is a dangerous hope, and Jamie isn't sure she can risk it.
As the season unfolds; with neighbors stopping by, small acts of kindness, and moments of laughter she never saw coming; Jamie begins to wonder if she's finally found a place where she can unpack, not just her things, but her heart. But when she overhears news that could change everything, she must decide if she's brave enough to believe in something she's never had before: a forever family.
Full of warmth, winter magic, and the quiet strength it takes to trust, The Welcome on the Mantle is a heartwarming journey about finding where you belong; and discovering that sometimes, the welcome you've been waiting for has been there all along.
