The Appin Murder, 1752. The murder of Colin Roy Campbell threatens to set off a powder keg in an already volatile Scotland, coming so soon after the Jacobite Rebellion. James Stewart is blamed—not least because of his kinship with the failed Pretender, Charles Stuart. James is arrested, tried and hanged, but the question has always been: did he do it?
