Usually a terror at home and school, young David learns to turn his hateful actions into a life of understanding-and learns the importance of showing gratefulness, love, and happiness in everyday life-from a mysterious stranger.

David, a young boy, struggles in life. He feels unhappy much of the time and takes his frustrations and sadness out on those at home and at school. Often in trouble, David acts out all the time and quickly becomes a headache for his parents, teachers, classmates, and neighbors.

On a day of particularly bad temperament, David's principal sends him home from school. Unsure of what to do, his mom instructs David to do the only thing she can think of: read the Book of Matthew. David assumes he should have had a worse punishment and requests to return to school.

Outside in the warm summer breeze, David's attitude returns. He stews in the emotions of feeling sorry for himself and lies against a tree, soon falling asleep as his sour thoughts swirl.

Suddenly, an old man appears before him with a lesson. His presence alarms David, who can't tell if the old man is full of wisdom or warning.

After David meets him, will he change his sour, angry attitude into a perspective of kindness and gratefulness? Or will he keep his bad attitude forever?

An Afternoon with David teaches younger children how to handle emotions, grow as people, and love their neighbors with a heartwarming narrative and lovable characters.
