This essay sheds light on what are assisted living facilities, expounds upon the problems with living in an assisted living facility, and demystifies the alternative lodging options to lodging in an assisted living facility. Assisted living facilities are facilities that are able to furnish lodging services, custodial care services, basic medical services, laundry services, housekeeping services, transportation services, and access to recreational activities to the residents of the assisted living facilities. Assisted living facilities are not all homogeneous to one another. The totality of service offerings can vary from assisted living facility to assisted living facility. Procuring custodial care services at assisted living facilities can allow the residents of the assisted living facilities to receive aid at assisted living facilities in completing the various "basic activities of daily living". If a person has slumped into an infirm state of poor health, then it can be eminently cumbersome for him to complete various the "basic activities of daily living" without receiving aid from a caregiver. This is attributable to a person often having compromised mobility if he has slumped into an infirm state of poor health. Succumbing to compromised mobility not only adversely impinges on a person's ability to perform basic locomotor movements, such as walking and jogging, but can also render it more arduous for a person to swiftly complete tasks that require a person to demonstrate locomotion coordination to perform. Furthermore, succumbing to compromised mobility can adversely affect a person's quality of life in contexts in which it renders him unable to seamlessly function. Even though assisted living facilities often do not offer their residents 24-hour access to basic medical services from nurses and certified nursing assistants, they still nonetheless frequently provide basic medical services to the residents of the assisted living facilities.
