Steve Win, an only child from a hardworking Jewish family in Jackson, Mississippi, recently graduated from Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Having grown up in Mississippi without seeing much of the world, Steve's eyes were opened by the sleek sports cars and unlimited allowances his Northeastern fraternity brothers enjoyed. His craving for these materialistic things soon became an obsession.

Steve channeled this newfound passion into a desire to practice personal injury law in New Orleans. He didn't need experience just the guts to do it and an advertising budget. But a call from his mother about a family emergency fills him with guilt and changes his plans. Steve closes his new practice and returns home to help.

Upon arriving in Jackson, Steve secures a job, but he soon discovers that his new position and employer are not what they seem. His employer has entangled him in a criminal conspiracy aimed at sparking an insurrection to overthrow the government.

Steve must save himself, his parents, his old girlfriend, and hundreds- possibly thousands— of descendants of Civil War slaves from losing everything, including their lives. What's a nice Jewish lawyer with only his brains and no superpowers to do when faced with a racist, anti-Semitic army? Add in the New Orleans mob to bring some Cajun spice to the mix, and Steve has only one option: become Superman, get even, and get the girl-not necessarily in that order.
