The story follows a young girl whose stepmother, envious of her beauty, sends her on an impossible task to fetch water with a sieve from the elusive Well of the World's End. During her quest, she encounters a wise old woman and a talking frog who offers guidance. By clever means, the girl successfully collects the water and returns home, only to be reminded of her promise to the frog. The frog, which turns out to be an enchanted prince, reveals his true form after the girl fulfills her promise by chopping off his frog head, dispelling the curse. Ultimately, the girl marries the prince, much to her stepmother's chagrin, and they depart to the prince's kingdom, highlighting themes of kindness, perseverance, and the rewards of keeping promises.
