Ashwyn has lived on the edge of the Devastation her whole life, watching as the deadly forest devours anyone who gets too close. Because under the many layers of the forest, the Devastation is hiding secrets. Secrets about why there is no death. And secrets about the Goddess who failed to defend Ashwyn. But she's not the only one looking for answers. The witch roams these woods, hunting for the truth of what broke the world, and a deaf princess trains as an elite Saint in order to track down the Goddess's enemies.

When the three of them collide, their connection threatens to crack the foundation of faith that formed their world. And Ash has to decide if she's going to take her place as a Saint and trust the Goddess who betrayed her. Or if the voice under the Devastation is right, and she must become the heretic that her people have always feared in order to heal the rift that shattered everything.
