The Hangover Hour Spoken Word Salon was a poetry reading held in Worcester, Massachusetts from 2013 to 2017.

It was a fun, silly reading that celebrated the writing and style of a by gone age. The host, David Macpherson, embraced the 30s and 40s of the New Yorker to create his reading.

The featured performers would come and perform a show based on the writing of someone they always admired, but had passed away, and they wanted other people to dig it.

The show was loud and raucous and quite nonsensical. There were also people coming in and reading their own work, and that was always the best.

This book is a memoir of that reading. David has used his files to reconstruct what that reading was like.

Why do people go to poetry readings? What do they get out of it? This book might not answer those questions, but it will try.
