Spirituality is not religion. It may not even deal with what we commonly view as something spiritual; it is about your internal spirit. It is written to be used by an atheist, agnostic, moral/ethical person, a psychologically oriented person, a nature and forest person, someone who uses medication, prayer, or other spiritual practice, or someone who has a devout religious faith.

Within this context, Spirituality Within Substance Use Disorder Recovery assists individuals with the integration of their spirituality into their sobriety and recovery. It can be used by someone in active treatment or for someone who has drifted away from spiritual beliefs and practices that they have viewed as beneficial in the past. It is also written for someone who wants to explore what spirituality means to them and how it may help their sobriety and recovery.

The book will take you on a reflective journey through its text, but more importantly, it attempts to enhance that journey through a journaling process. A primary objective of this endeavor is to have you not only conduct an honest assessment about your spiritual beliefs but then to utilize those beliefs in support of your sobriety and recovery.

At the end of this journey, it is hoped that you will have understood your spirituality and its relationship to your life, and in particular your sobriety and recovery.
