When Wryn, Jack, and their new friend and magical apprentice August, suddenly find themselves not only far from home, but also thrown through time by the mysterious amperquasilumiaxedryn, they are faced with more than the question of how to get home, but how to survive. With absolutely no understanding of the device that brought them there and left with no other choice, the trio forms a plan that means traveling through unknown, possibly savage lands with only one sword and two untrained magic wielders for protection, while also dealing with the onset of winter. Realizing they'll likely not survive on their own, they turn to the most unlikely of sources for help.
As Wryn begins to learn more of her own magic as well as the abilities bestowed upon her by the ancient Ambriast beast Adram, Jack copes with keeping her and August safe from a world he doesn't know or understand. With the promise of getting them home to their families. Jack struggles to keep Wryn grounded in the reality of their situation and not let her be guided too far off by her heart while still allowing her to learn more about the past and the intricate part it plays in their lives at home.
Fears reveal truths, frustrations become triumphs, and passions are realized during the journey to the coast of the Itsga'Ar Sea on a quest to return to Sah'Amordae, to seek out the help from the Adram of the past. Before returning home, however, Wryn must face one of the most heartbreaking challenges of her life to ensure their interactions in the past won't have an impact their own timeline and future.
