A grim fairy tale
THE OCEAN IS A TRICKSTER
Hush and retire 'fore her
Luring tune calls out to you
Like many explorers, young Jacob boards a ship to the New World, hoping to find gold and claim a land of his own.
"The ocean is a trickster, and the moon its shady mistress." When warned of the ocean's trickery, Jacob scoffs and pays no heed.
Until he sees a glimpse of a woman in the dark waters.
Jacob blames the bizzarre sight to his tipsiness. After all, sirens are just foolish tales.
But the woman's ghostly, pupiless eyes are too vivid to be a mere illusion. They call out to him like fire does a moth. As the voyage continues, the woman in the water haunts Jacob night after night.
Is the ocean truly nothing but treachery? Will Jacob make it to the New World safely?
