Emma Hayes has spent her whole life looking for the missing. She didn't know that someone was watching her. Twenty years ago, Emma's best friend Lily went missing from the woods behind her house and was never seen again. The case went cold, but Emma never gave up looking. She is now a successful true crime podcaster, and her career has been built on giving a voice to the people who have been forgotten or gone.

Emma realizes that her investigation into missing persons cases has drawn the wrong kind of attention when she starts to feel like she's being watched in her own apartment. She hears footsteps in empty hallways, finds things moved while she's gone, and gets strange messages slipped under her door.

Emma finds a disturbing pattern that links disappearances over the years as she digs deeper. Someone has been behind these disappearances, and Emma's constant search for the truth has made her the perfect target.

Emma now has to face a scary thought: what if her friend's disappearance wasn't just a coincidence? What if everything Emma has become—her obsession, her job, her whole life—was exactly what someone else wanted?

Emma will learn that the line between being a witness and being a victim is much thinner than she thought in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

A psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end.
