In 484 AD, King Huneric of the Vandals summoned the Catholic bishops of Africa to Carthage to provide an account of their faith. This decree addressed concerns about the prohibition of their assemblies, which were believed to undermine Christian doctrine. The bishops were encouraged to defend their Homousian faith in alignment with divine scriptures. Eugene, the Bishop of Carthage, suggested that foreign bishops also participate in the discussions to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of their faith. The meeting aimed to strong arm Arianism into the church via political brutality.
