It all started on January 28th, 1986, when reporter Serene Winters covered the ill-fated launch of the space shuttle Challenger for her newspaper column. Since then, her life has been plagued with a series of baffling incidents.

Disturbing dreams, bouts of déjà vu, a curious letter in the mail and most puzzling of all, the beautiful Tiffany diamond and sapphire necklace inexplicitly inscribed with her name and now somehow in her possession. To Serene, it's as if she's suddenly been cast as a sleuth in a detective novel about her own life.

Then, a welcome diversion, the Titanic, the world's most famous ship, has been located after 73 years and the discovery is creating a sensation. Serene and two colleagues set off to cover the story, but their strange meeting with one of Titanic's survivors launches Serene on a journey back in time to the doomed ship. Deemed a stowaway, Serene is forced to rely on her wits to navigate shipboard life.

Then she encounters Will, the man who holds the key to solving the mysteries troubling her life and learns this isn't their first encounter. But his attempts to bring Serene home lead them both into the path of a mighty force. One as old as time and as ancient as the days.
