From Gift to Burden is a powerful and deeply personal critique of how the sacred roles in the Fivefold Ministry—apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers—have been misused in modern churches. Rooted in Ephesians 4:11–13, these offices were given by Christ to build, equip, and mature the Church. But today, many have turned these gifts into tools of manipulation, control, and personal empire-building.
The book explores how apostles now demand loyalty rather than plant churches, prophets prophesy for profit, evangelists use fear instead of the Gospel, pastors control instead of shepherding, and teachers twist Scripture for gain. Each chapter outlines the biblical standard for these roles and contrasts them with their modern abuses—highlighting how spiritual slavery, fear, and financial exploitation have replaced freedom, truth, and growth.
The author's own story—once fully devoted to a charismatic leader, only to be dismissed after decades of service—adds emotional depth and urgency to the call for reform. He acknowledges the real wounds inflicted on believers, including himself, and offers hope for healing by returning to biblical truth, servant leadership, and Christ-centered ministry.
With deep theological insight, personal vulnerability, and prophetic boldness, the book calls every believer to discern truth, test spiritual authority, and reclaim the Fivefold Ministry as a true gift, not a burden. It ends with a passionate plea for a reformation—where integrity, humility, and love govern church leadership once again.
